rude clerk inconsistent information
the hotel is in a handy location for exploring the city. it is within walking distance of powell street bart and union square.
The check-out process was not great. the front desk clerk was rude and dismissive. He seemed bothered that we were waiting in the lobby. we waited for the valet to bring our car around, and he interrupted me constantly when i made a gentle suggestion about consistent information to guests.

good coffee nearby restaurants functional refrigerator
my room had a refrigerator. the continental breakfast offered good coffee (a definite plus for me). several restaurants nearby served excellent thai food.
the elevator seemed slow considering the number of rooms in the building.

the complimentary continental breakfast was great. i really liked the free wine and cheese at the end of the day, it felt tender.
the hotel generally felt old and needed attention. my biggest issue was the bathroom cleanliness, it was not great.
