La Serena Villas, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel (Adults Only) - A boutique Palm Springs hotel with private villa suites, rooftop bar, and mountain views
Set on over an acre of landscaped grounds in downtown Palm Springs, this historic 1933 property features 18 private villa suites, each with a secluded patio containing a clawfoot tub and fire pit. La Serena Villas houses Azúcar restaurant, specializing in farm-to-table Mediterranean cuisine under Chef Joane Garcia Colson, and the Sugar High Rooftop Bar offering cocktails with San Jacinto Mountain views. Guest accommodations include kitchenettes, king beds, and spacious bathrooms, while select villas feature full kitchens and living rooms. The Whispers Spa provides massage treatments in a double-occupancy room, with the 'Happy Couple' massage as its signature service. La Serena Villas sits two blocks from Palm Canyon Drive's restaurants and boutiques, near the Palm Springs Art Museum and Tennis Club district.
Pros
Private patios with outdoor clawfoot tubs and fire pits for each villa
Rooftop bar and restaurant with panoramic mountain views
Historic 1933 Spanish-style architecture preserved
Lobby features unique decor including reggae music, peacock chairs, and artwork by George Rodrigue
Cons
Adults-only property, not suitable for families with children
Limited to 18 rooms, books up quickly during peak seasons
“This adults-only Palm Springs escape offers individual villas with private patios, clawfoot tubs, and fire pits-a promising recipe for romance and relaxation. While some report service inconsistencies, the focus on a tranquil, child-free environment near downtown's attractions remains a strong draw.”
