Snug Harbour Inn, Ucluelet

A Snug Harbour Inn, recognized as one of Canada's Top 10 B & Bs, sits on a cliff with views of the Pacific coastline. Many dishes use old family recipes from the Kawaii family, who have provided food experiences for 30 years. The dining experience highlights what comes from the waters it overlooks. There is an authentic west-coast table set in a bay window. The Barkley Cafe, located in the Davison Plaza, has wine, beer, and cider on its beachfront patio, inside by the fireplace, or at the driftwood bar. Alder wood burning in the stone oven, mixed with the oils and herbs, makes the pizza. Guests can enjoy oysters fresh shucked, steamed, smoked, fried or served in a Po'Boy. Cedar Grill features many dishes in a casual environment at reasonable prices.

Guests have full use of the inn's Great Room with a conversation pit and fireplace, the main deck, a hot tub, and access to a private beach. Tours start from the harbour, with options to choose from including flights over the glacier and waterfalls. The Pacific Rim National Park and Long Beach have hiking trails, coves, wildlife, and beaches. The Long Beach Golf Course, a 9-hole championship course, is on Vancouver Island. Visitors to the Ucluelet Aquarium can see local marine life. MacMillan Provincial Park Cathedral Grove has forests. Ucluelet has tours such as Subtitle Adventures and Browning Pass Charters. The coastline around Ucluelet is a feeding and spawning destination for salmon. The shoreline with swells is a spot for riding the waves.
