Hotel Du Vieux Saule enjoys a superb location in Le Marais, placing guests right in the heart of the action with many restaurants and shops at the doorstep and offering convenient access to attractions like Norte Dame and the Bastille via nearby metro lines. Many guests find the rooms surprisingly spacious for Paris, with comfortable beds and effective air conditioning, though some have noted that certain rooms can feel a bit dated. The hotel's proximity to the Marché des Enfants Rouges is a definite plus for food lovers, and the unique "hugging elevator" is a memorable detail.

acceptable stay with noticeable drawbacks

convenient locationsmall elevatorcigarette odor
the location proved convenient (a definite plus).
The elevator was small. Only one person with luggage fit. i found the room's condition substandard. the bathroom tiles was cracked, and i noticed some rust, which detracted from the overall cleanliness. regrettably, a stale cigarette odor permeated the room, clinging unpleasantly to my hair and clothing.

the location was excellent. the staff were helpful and friendly. the room was cozy and clean. breakfast was lovely!
The room was dated. Dark and small. there was only one convenient plug socket. They managed to squeeze in a double bed. you couldn't walk around it. also, frustratingly the shower leaked everywhere, because the door didn't shut properly.

A mixed experience. Some issues noted

friendly receptionistsmall elevatorunfriendly staff member
the receptionist was very friendly. check in was very easy.
The elevator only fits one person at a time. i had to climb the stairs sometimes. one member of staff was unfriendly when i asked for water. He told me there was a supermarket down the road. it was closed. the service depended on who was at the front desk. this was not what i needed after a long day.

Excellent Stay in the Heart of the City

friendly receptionistdesk areaconvenient location
The receptionists were charming and very friendly. My room featured a desk and chair in the corner. three French windows (quite lovely!). The art gallery across the street added a nice touch to the view. I found the location central, providing great value for exploring the city.
I was surprised upon checkout to find that the staircase was a narrow spiral after the elevator was out of service. This type of staircase is hard to manage with suitcases.
Rooms
9/10
The room included a comfortable double bed alongside a small desk area, ideal for catching up on work. French windows offered a pleasant view of the street and the neighboring buildings.
Service
10/10
The staff members were consistently friendly and helpful . They provided quick answers to my questions (always with a smile!). I especially liked the Dutch receptionist.
