The open-plan ground floor includes the bar, dining area, lounge areas, and reception, all designed with hardwood floors, metalwork standard lamps, and retro-styled chairs.

Leisure and services

Guests at Motel One Newcastle have access to a large courtyard for al fresco drinks and a 24-hour front desk. The hotel provides secure bicycle storage and iPads for guest use. Safety features include a carbon monoxide detector, a fire extinguisher, a smoke detector, a security system, a first aid kit, and window guards.

Central Newcastle location

Motel One Newcastle is in Newcastle City Center, a 2-minute walk to the historic city centre. Sights such as the Theatre Royal, Grey's Monument, and Newcastle Town Hall are nearby. Bigg Market and Northumberland Street are close by. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Monument and a 10-minute walk from Manors. Newcastle Airport is 15 km away.

Design and Atmosphere

The building combines original and new construction, with the new section at the rear on former wasteland. The hotel's design reflects Newcastle's industrial past with raw brickwork. Chairs by Arketipo with steel frames and mirrored shelving holding whisky carafes add charm. Blown-up photographs of Newcastle's bridges decorate the walls. Leather furniture by Baxter and rugs by Jan Kath are present.

“Motel One Newcastle surprises with its savvy industrial-modern style, a refreshing break from typical budget options. The heart of Newcastle is steps away, yet the hotel maintains a quiet remove, making it ideal for exploring the city's vibrant core. I particularly appreciate its commitment to sustainability and the little luxuries, like quality bedding, that elevate the experience.”

average stay with significant issues

broken air conditioning poor soundproofing
The air conditioning in my room barely worked. it was uncomfortably warm, and the small window did little to help. i reported the issue but it remained unresolved . also, the soundproofing was poor. I could hear conversations and noise from adjacent rooms. this made it difficult to sleep, especially since it was on a weekend

underwhelming experience

cramped room night noise
the location was central, convenient for getting around.
the room felt cramped, and there was hardly any space to put my suitcase. there were no bedside tables, which i found odd. also, the noise from nearby bars at night made it difficult to sleep. i expected a bit more for the price.
