The hotel supports local events such as the Mull Music Festival, with live music and dance. The Western Isles Hotel also has an outdoor terrace which will be open during the festival.

Location and Transport

The Western Isles Hotel is on the Isle of Mull, the largest of the islands of Argyll and the third largest in Scotland. It is 65 km from Oban. Three ferry routes provide access to Mull. The most popular route is from Oban to Craignure, with a connecting bus to Tobermory. Other routes include Lochaline to Fishnish and Kilchoan direct to Tobermory.

Hotel Services

The Western Isles Hotel is dog friendly, both in the rooms and public spaces. The hotel offers free food and drinks to anyone who signs up for services. Wi-Fi is provided free of charge in most areas of the hotel. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the back bar and main entrance. If you require items such as towels, soap, and shampoo, you may request these items, which will be left outside your door. The Cameron Room displays a plaque commemorating the 200,000 British officers and sea men who trained on Mull. Parking is available but may be limited at times.

“What stands out is the staff's dedication to personalizing the experience, particularly noteworthy given the building's grand, historic feel, updated with modern comforts. I was impressed by the sea views and its conservatory bar, stocked with an astounding selection of whiskies. Its dog-friendly policy and access to those scenic walking paths around Tobermory make it an ideal base to explore the Isle of Mull.”

mixed feelings about the stay

outdated furnitureobstructed view
The room felt quite outdated. Some furniture looked worn. the promised harbor view was mostly obstructed by trees, a disappointment. also, the breakfast buffet lacked variety, it was repetitive.

The breakfast menu was acceptable, and the coffee was fine.
I found little storage for clothing in my room, even though it had been renovated. The tv wasn't set up, it took staff TWO times to do it. The tv crashed at midnight that night, reverting to the original set up page, requiring passcodes. It was very frustrating.

the front desk staff member looked strange. i heard noise from a room above mine. the bathroom window leaked water when it rained, it was a serious issue.
