Some tables are in the smokehouse and some are inside a flower-filled greenhouse near the Victorian walled garden. A restaurant serves American and French cuisines. Madeleine features bar snacks like crispy paneer with spiced yogurt and serves afternoon tea Wednesday through Sunday. Isaac's is a British brasserie with French influence and serves a traditional roast dinner each Sunday. The wine list includes options from classic cellar selections to organic and biodynamic wines, including some from the UK.

Leisure and Entertainment

Guests can explore a large walled Victorian garden designed by the first President of the Landscape Institute. The hotel also has Downstairs at The Grand, a live music bar inspired by Ronnie Scott's and the Soho jazz scene. Other recreational options include access to a four-mile countryside walk detailed in an in-room field guide.

The hotel is 20 km from Birmingham Airport. Nearby points of interest include the Hall of Memory, Brindley Place, and the National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham.

Hotel Services

The property has a 24-hour front desk and provides room service. The hotel blends Victorian architecture with an art deco design. The lobby features a mosaic tiled floor and period lights. Two disability lifts and a ramp on the sixth floor are available. There are also provisions for weddings of all sizes. Rock & Royalty Rewards loyalty program rewards meetings and event bookers.

“This is a carefully restored hotel with wonderful architecture and attentive staff. The location is superb, a short walk to the railway station and town hall. I find the blend of original features and modern splendour delightful and the artwork carefully weaved into the heart of the hotel a real gem.”

mixed feelings about this stay

rude hostessuncleaned room
The bar thing really got to me. i tried to get in before dinner, but they turned me away. said they didn't have a table for residents. i went back after dinner, and they stuck me at the bar even though the restaurant manager reserved a table for me. then, the hostess at the door laughed at me, which really ticked me off. i talked to a manager at reception. He said it was unusual but would look into it, but i never heard back. plus, the room wasn't cleaned right when i got there, and they didn't even bother removing the previous guest's stuff like i asked.

central locationloud musicsleepless night
the central location suited my travel needs well.
I encountered significant disruption from loud music emanating from an event within the hotel. The bass vibrated through my room late into the night. the lack of prior notification and the sleepless night were disappointing for the price i paid. this detracted significantly from an otherwise acceptable stay.

The staff greeted me warmly. I really liked the gym it had modern equipment. It was located on my floor for easy access. The open terrace on the first floor were good too.
I wanted to have a drink, but got trouble to find a free table in the hotel bar. It was very difficult. the check-in took so long I was waiting in a long queue.

My stay presented some issues. the bar service was unacceptable. I was told on three separate occasions that seating was unavailable, or restricted to a mere thirty minutes. this felt particularly poor considering the price i paid for my visit. additionally, the shampoo dispenser within my shower was loose and consistently fell off the wall. it was very inconvenient, to say the least!!!
